On July 4, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan has visited the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, where has occurred the annual reporting meeting of shareholders. During the meeting was submitted the report of the works done in 2013, as well as the work process of the recharging, annual planned renovation, also the introduction of measures to enhance the security level planned in September 2014. After the tour in the Plant, the Minister Yervand Zakharyan noted in the interview, that Armenia and Russia will sign an agreement, under which Russia will provide 300 million dollars loan to extend the nuclear power plant’s operation terms.... On July 2nd, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan has participation in the opening of the "Energy Week 2014" event. The Minister toured the exhibition pavilions and familiarized with the presented offers of Armenian market of the energy sector, particularly the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy. The Director of Armenia Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency Fund Tamara Babayan, in the opening of the event noted, that the activities and discussions in the frame of the "Energy Week 2014" are directed to the latest developments in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy, including the legislative reforms, funding opportunities, technological novelties and future programs.... Օn June 3, the RA Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Iran Islamic Republic in Armenia Mohammad Raiesi. The meeting of the newly appointed Minister and Ambassador Raiesi was spent in a warm and practical atmosphere. The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan visited the "Yerevan Thermal Power Plant" CJSC. The Minister has got acquainted with the employees of the company and has a talk with them, also toured the Thermal Plant area. Yervand Zakharyan at first toured the ''Yerevan Thermal Power Plant'' JSC's old unit, watched the technical state of inactive workstation of the thermal plant. The director of plant Hovakim Hovhannisyan introduced to the Minister the technical capabilities of the old station, the expediency of keeping conserved and to operate on the basis of water – coal fuel in future.... Օn May 7, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan visited the three companies of the Ministry system, namely “ Energy System Operator” CJSC, ‘’Settlement Centre ‘’CJSC and “Energy Debugging” CJSC. The Minister has got acquainted with the employees of the companies and has a talk about their ongoing functions. On April 30, 2014, in accordance with the decree of the President of RA, Yervand Zakharyan was appointed to the office of Minister of Energy and Natural Resources. The same day, the Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan introduced newly appointed Energy and Natural Resources Minister Yervand Zakharyan to the staff of the ministry. The head of Government thanked former Minister Armen Movsisyan for long-term work and cooperation. "Yervand Zakharyan is well aware of the energy sector. On March 31, at half past 14, in all areas of the country the power supply is fully recovered. On March 30, because of heavy snow and wind, about 230 provinces , especially in Gegharkunik's, Tavushe's, Gegharkunik's, Aragatsotn's, Armavir's, Vayots Dzor's regions had been left without power. Due to professionals' round the clock work, the power supply in residential areas and social facilities was restored in the shortest possible time.... View more

Because of wet and heavy snowing and the strong wind during the night, there were power outages in a number of areas of the country. The settlements and social facilities have been left without power. The large number of power outages are especially in Shirak's, Lori's, Tavushe's and Gegharkunik's regions. The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources informs, that all efforts are concentrated to recovery energy primarily in social facilities and residences. There are some difficulties, because the snow, rainfall and wind is still ongoing.... View more
