Today the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the new thermal power plant to be built near the Yerevan TPP area. During the ceremony RA Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Ashot Manukyan and the CEO of Renco Giovanni Rubini signed a joint memorandum which was placed in the capsule installed in the foundation of the new thermal power plant.
Yerevan TPP new project is being implemented by "Renco" group. It plans to build a combined cycle gas power station with approximate capacity of 234 MgW and up to 53 % of efficiency coefficient. It will be financed by the private investments. The project will cost 285 million USD. The construction works will last up to 26 months and will be completed in the second half of 2019.
Only during the construction around 900 temporary workplaces and 200 permanent and high-paying workplaces will be created after the exploitation.
Yerevan TPP combined steam-gas cycle power unit designed by Renco Group by investing modern and qualified facilities and scientific experience which will ensure high efficiency and safety.
