The perspectives of Armenian-Iranian cooperation were discussed

From 25 to July 27, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of RA Levon Yolyan had an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran. During the visit topics regarding the implementation of bilateral cooperation programs in the fields of energy, oil, gas, petroleum and mining industries, as well as the prospects for expanding the Armenian-Iranian collaboration were discussed. As a part of his visit, the Minister L. Yolyan had meetings with the First Vice President of Iran E. Jahangiri, Minister of Energy H. Chitchian, Oil Minister B. Zangane, and Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade M. Nematzadeh.

During the meetings the sides discussed a wide range of issues related to the Armenian-Iranian and regional cooperation. All discussions were held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and consent. The Iranian side expressed its willingness and interest in the implementation of diverse projects of cooperation with Armenia and in deepening and expanding the bilateral partnership. Issues related to the third high-voltage transmission line Armenia-Iran, the project of gasification of Meghri and Agarak communities were examined. Views were exchanged on the possibility of activation and other methods of implementation for the hydroelectric power plants construction on the Aras River.

Regarding the Armenian-Iranian and regional cooperation the subjects of partnership expansion and gas sale were raised. An agreement was reached with the Iranian Oil Minister to find a final legal solution of the issue in the near future.  

During the meeting, the Iranian side expressed its interest in investing in wind energy sector of Armenia, in the construction of wind farms with a total capacity of 50 megawatts, as well as the opening of branches of major Iranian producers.
