On July 28, the session of the Armenian-Iranian Joint Committee, formed within the framework of the 12th session of the Armenian-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission, has started in the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of RA, by the leadership of RA Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Ara Simonyan and Senior Advisor to the IRI Minister of Energy Homayune Haeri, with participation of the responsibles of interested Ministries and institutions of the RA and IRI.
During the meeting there were discussed the process of the implementation of provisions set out in the Memorandum of Understanding signed in the result of the 12th session of the Armenian-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission and the current problems.
During the meeting the representatives of the interested institutions have presented information about works carried out in their fields and current problems, particularly in the energy, transport, trade, environment, tourism, culture, agriculture, emergency situations, regional cooperation and other fields.
There was particularly highlighted the continued development of the Armenian-Iranian cooperation after the membership of Armenia to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), and possibility of Iran's cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union through Armenia, taking into account the successful experience of bilateral relations.
Within the framework of the Joint Committee session are also being held bilateral discussions and meetings according to the appropriate spheres.
The results of the session of the Committee will be presented to the RA Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, the Chairman of the Armenian side of the Armenian-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission Yervand Zakharyan after the discussions.
Note, that the Joint Committee was established with the aim to follow up the implementation of the agreements reached by the Memorandum of Understanding signed in the framework of the 12th session of the Armenian-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on December 15-16, 2014, in Tehran.
It is planned to hold the sessions of the Joint Committee for six-month periodicity in both countries.
