On 17-18 of January, the Fifth Session of the International Renewable Energy Agency Assembly (IRENA) hosted in Abu Dhabi.
The session of the Assembly is the high-level annual meeting of the International Renewable Energy Agency, during which there were been discussing the annual reports of the organization, approving the development plans, annual budget, the new developments in the field of renewable energy, the international experience.
Armenia is a member of the International Renewable Energy Agency.
The fifth meeting of the Assembly was a convenient occasion to negotiate with the representatives of donor countries and investing companies in order to involve the means for the development projects of renewable energy in Armenia.
The meeting participants have noted, that the renewable energy field technologies have become quite affordable in recent years: For example, the photovoltaic panels dropped by 80%, which significantly contributes to the development of the sector.
The Armenian delegation, headed by the RA Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Hayk Harutyunyan, met with the General Director of the International Renewable Energy Agency, delegations from different countries and representatives of the international financial organizations.
The potential of renewable energy in Armenia, as well as the implemented and planned in projects were been presented to them in details.
During the meetings, it was noted that the development of renewable energy sector has no alternative in Armenia and the RA Government is doing everything possible to utilize the potential of the sector fully and increase the level of Armenia's energy security.
