As a result of recent workshops with the Iranian side, the construction of Iran-Armenia 400 kV power air transmission line and substation have gained a new momentum.
Within the framework of the project "Construction of Iran-Armenia 400 kV line and relevant substation," the goods and equipment necessary for the construction of the power line are imported from Iran to Armenia. Large-scale construction works have been resumed since May. There are also works on obtaining the necessary land plots for pillars, in particular, 693 of 745 land plots were acquired.
The construction of the transmission line is divided into six sections and covers Regions of Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor and Syunik.
The length of the air power transmission line built in the Armenian sector is about 279 km, the main contractor of which is the Iranian "Sanir" company. The cost of the project is 107.9 million euro.
The construction of the line is aimed at fulfillment of the obligations undertaken by the Armenian side under the gas for electricity project and ensuring regional cooperation.
Construction of Iran-Armenia 400 kV two-lane power transmission line and 400 kV "Noravan" substation will enable to increase power transmission capacity to 1200 MW between the energy systems of the two countries, while simultaneously raising the reliability of parallel operation of energy systems and the level of energy security of the Republic of Armenia.
The RA Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources will continue to be consistent in order to carry out construction works in accordance with the quality and timetable.
