Twenty companies and consortiums have applied for participation in the international contest announced for involving investors for the construction of first systematic sun station in Armenia.
Deputy Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of RA Hayk Harutryunyan said the applied companies are well-known in the sector and are leading ones in their countries.
“Companies from China, the USA, Germany, Spain, South Korea, Iran and other countries have applied for participation in the pre-qualification round of the construction of the station,” the Deputy Minister said.
After the examination of the submitted applications a tariff contest will be announced among the ones which will pass the pre-qualification round. The preference will be given to the company which will present the lowest and compatible tariff. The contest will end in the beginning of the next year and the construction of the station will launch.
“By the end of 2018 Armenia is expected to have first systematic sun station with 55 megawatt power,” Hayk Harutyunyan said.
According to the Government-approved investment project, it is expected to build 110 megawatt power photovoltaic sun stations in six locations in Armenia. In the first round Masrik location in Gegharkunik province has been selected where 55 megawatt power station will be built.
