Within a framework of the Electricity Transmission Network Reconstruction investment project, the reconstruction of “Agarak-2” and “Shinuhayr” substations has launched. The reconstruction of the substations significant for the energy system is financed by the Asian Development Bank. The total cost of the program is 31.9 million USD. The construction works are being implemented by the Chinese Liaoning-EFACEC Electrical Equipment Co. LTD and Northeast China International Electric Power Corporation joint enterprise.
During the past years with the assistance of the World Bank “Shinuhayr” 220 kW substation was partially reconstructed, primary 220 kW voltage equipment has been replaced but the secondary circuits, relay protection and automation devices are worn out and do not satisfy reliable and safe electricity transmission demands and need to be upgraded. The substation was built in 1961.
Within a framework of Electricity Transmission Network Reconstruction project additional 220/110 kW autotransformer is expected to be installed in “Agarak-2” substation which is directly connected with the Iranian network. This will give an opportunity to connect 220 and 110 kW electricity transmission lines and supply stored electricity to the consumers getting electricity from “Agarak-1” substation.
The upgrading and the reconstruction of “Agarak-2” and “Shinuhayr” substations will promote the increasing of energy safety and electricity supply reliability and minimize the electricity transmission losses. The reconstruction of the substations is to be completed in 2019.
