On April 14, within the framework of ANPP Unit 2 Lifetime Extension Program the fourth session of the Armenian-Russian Joint Coordinating Commission was held in Yerevan, co-chaired by Areg Galstyan, advisor to the Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources and K. Komarov, First Deputy Director General for Corporate Development and International Business of “Rosatom” State Corporation. The session was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources, the RA State Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committee by the Government, "ANPP" CJSC, "Rosatom" State Corporation and "Rusatom Service" JSC.
The participants of the fourth session of the Joint Coordinating Commission touched upon the process of the works carried out within the ANPP's Unit 2 Lifetime Extension Program and discussed the issues related to the 2017 planned activities such as preventive repair and refueling, operation permit, in particular, instrumental examination and settlement reasoning, equipment upgrading and replacement activities. The implementation of information and educational projects, including the possibilities of Armenian students to be involved or study in higher education institutions in the field of nuclear energy of Russian Federation were also reviewed.
Speaking on further actions, First Deputy Director General of "Rosatom" State Corporation K. Komarov stressed the importance of proper organization of the ANPP planned preventive repair (Outage -2017) events.
Currently it is necessary to focus on implementing “Outage 2017” preparatory activities to be able to complete planned preventive repair works on time and successfully, stressing the operational safety of ANPP.
At the session a number of decisions were made including the development of the complex activities to prepare ANPP for additional operation in terms, as well as the extension investment projects. The commission also approved the list of additional measures to study and evaluate the technical condition of the Unit 2 and reviewed the possibilities to involve planned and main contractor organizations in the modernization project within the “Outage-2017”.
