The tariff set by the Public Services Regulatory Commission applies only to the stations with up to 1 MW capacity. According to Hayk Harutyunyan, the Deputy Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources, it is not related to the autonomous stations with up to 150 kW capacity installed by individuals and legal entities to meet their own needs. The tariff is regulated according to the RA Law on Energy Savings and Renewable Energy. It says that after meeting their needs, the self-sufficient producers get reimbursement over 50% of current tariff while selling surplus electricity to the distribution networks. According to Hayk Harutyunyan, the tariff for 1 MW solar power plants set by the Public Services Regulatory Commission on November 16 is 42.6 AMD without VAT. The same is for the electricity produced in wind farms. The calculations show that it is quite efficient tariff for such stations.
In addition, the government gives a 20-year guarantee on the purchase of the electricity produced by them. Unlike the autonomous stations, the functioning of up to 1 MW stations is subject to license.
