On December 2, within the ANPP Unit 2 life time extension program the third session of Joint Coordination Commission was held in Yerevan. The session was presided by Co-chair Mr. A. Galstyan, Deputy Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources and Co-chair Mr. K. Komarov,"Rosatom” First Deputy CEO for Corporate Development and International Business.
The participants considered the results of the activities on inspection and substantiation of the Armenian NPP Unit 2 equipment operation lifetime extension, discussed implementation of the preparation program of the power unit in extra time, equipment upgrading and replacement and safety systems modernization. The sides also touched upon the issues related to the admission of Armenian atomic energy field students to Russian Institutes of higher education in 2017.
The sides confirmed that the first phase of the complex inspection of the Armenian NPP Unit 2 is completed. It was noted that about 15 specialized agencies took part in the mentioned activities, about4500 equipment units were examined, and about 46 accounting documents were processed and handed over. The possibility of Armenian NPP Unit 2 life time extension program was approved according to defined conditions.
During the ANPP Unit 2 life time extension program controlling activities on equipment, metal and weld joints and the main pipelines of the reactor plant were inspected. No defects were detected to prevent from extending the reactor plant operation period for another 10 years.
In parallel, the instrumental inspection of valves, pumps, mechanical, hoisting and other equipments ANPP Unit 2 has been carried out and will be completed in 2018. The instrumental inspection will result in specifying the residual resource of more than 1000 equipment units for the possibility of its further operation.
During the session both parties confirmed that the implementation of the works defined by ANPP Unit 2 life time extension program is according to schedule.
A number of decisions on processing and providing equipments and systems on time, enhancing and improving ANPP safety level, as well as providing reliability for electricity generation have been made.
