On November 21, Ashot Manukyan, the Minister of Energy Infrastructure and Natural Resources received H.E. Mr. Richard M. Mills, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of USA to the Republic of Armenia. A wide range of issues of bilateral interest in energy and mining sectors has been discussed.
Welcoming the Ambassador, the Minister stressed the importance of projects implemented by the United States, expressing the hope that they will continue in the future. The importance of US support to enhance the security of Armenian NPP has been underlined. Issues regarding the transparency of the works being implemented in mining field were touched upon.
Congratulating Ashot Manukyan on his appointment, Richard Mills said that the US Embassy and the Ministry have a big experience of cooperation and assured that it will continue in the future. Richard Mills expressed the willingness to support the implementation of the cooperation projects in both energy and mining sectors.
At the meeting the sides also touched upon the developments in the field of nuclear energy and regional integration projects. The minister highlighted the role of nuclear energy in terms of providing energy security of Armenia. Speaking about regional projects, Ashot Manukyan presented the working process implemented for construction of Iran-Armenia and Armenia-Georgia high-voltage transmission lines.
