The charity project of LED (light-emitting diode) lamps installation entitled “Bright Border” is being launched in Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh by the efforts of a number of organizations and individuals, which aims to purchase LED lamps through fundraising and communication campaign and set them at the borderline residents’ houses.
At the project launching ceremony deputy minister of energy infrastructure and natural resources Mr. Hayk Harutyunyan noted they are willing to popularize the use of LED lights in Armenia through the efforts of several organizations and individuals.
“These lamps use ten times less power, and are valid up to 10 years. On average, the installation expenses will be returned during 1.5-2 months. Moreover, usage of these lamps decreases electricity tariff by 30-60 percent a month”, he said.
According to the deputy minister, a similar and highly successful project has been implemented in Astghashen village, NKR in 2015.
Harutyunyan says it is initially planned to install LED lamps in homes of residents of border areas of Tavush region.
“Fundraising has been initiated for the project, and after that the tender for lamp supply will be announced. In the frameworks of the tender process the quality of the lamps will be checked at the respective laboratories’’ said Mr. Harutyunyan and added that the necessary financing for two villages is already collected.
Mr. Hayk Shekyan, Founder & CEO of Shtigen “Shtigen” LLC noted that at the initial stage of the project it is planned to install LED lamps in 10 villages. Overall, LED lamps will be installed in 33 villages and Tchambarak city. 16500 families will be beneficiaries for this project which also includes Nagorno Karabakh.
