On November 9, the Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources met with Laura Bailey, the World Bank Country Manager for Armenia.
Appreciating the projects being implemented by the World Bank in Armenia, the Minister stressed the importance of the projects' being targeted and continuity. Particularly, the significance of the implementing projects in high voltage networks and water sector has been highlighted.
Touching upon the further cooperation priority with the World Bank, Ashot Manukyan stressed the Renewable Energy field as a priority. Currently the project to build 100-megawatt solar power plants in Armenia is being discussed with the World Bank. The cooperation in geothermal field is perspective too and there are positive expectations in this field. In these fields Armenia with the help of the World Bank plans to reach to the production level.
Appreciating the high level of cooperation in energy sector with Armenia, the World Bank Country Manager for Armenia Laura Bailey noted that the cooperation is taking all possible options. It is very comprehensive and includes both energy and water system and mining sector, although in the last sector both the Minister and the head of WB Yerevan Office noticed a necessity to activate the works.
During the meeting the sides also touched upon energy, water, mining and other issues of cooperation, expressing hope that it would successfully continue in future, too.
