A memorandum of understanding on sale, purchase and transit of gas has been pre-signed within the framework of the visit of the delegation of the RA Ministry of Energy infrastructure and Natural Resources to the Islamic Republic of Iran on October 31-November 1. The memorandum was pre-signed by National Gas Export Company of Iran and Energaimpex CJSC. The document will be submitted for signing in the near future.
The delegation of the Ministry of Energy infrastructure and Natural Resources headed by Hayk Harutyunyan, the Deputy Minister, had several meetings with energy sector officials of Iran.
The current condition of cooperation between two countries in gas sector and the perspectives for enlargement of regional cooperation, in particular, transit of gas through Armenia to third countries have been discussed with Khamid Aragh, the deputy minister of oil of Iran and director of the National Gas Company and Ali Amirani, the executive director of the National Gas Export Company of Iran.
The delegation also had meetings with H. Fallahatiani, the deputy minister of energy of Iran and H. Hayeri, advisor to the minister. The key issue of the meeting was the increasing of the volume of interflows taking into account the perspectives to further expanding of regional cooperation. The parties touched upon issues regarding the increasing of the interflows of Armenia-Iran-Georgia within the current capacities, as well as issues regarding Iran-Armenia-Georgia- Russia regional cooperation after the launch of the new expected infrastructures.
The RA delegation visited also the Iranian MAPNA company which intends to invest in wind power stations in Armenia. At the first stage, the construction of stations with a total capacity of 50 MW is being planned.
The delegation has also visited SANIR Company, the main contractor of Iran-Armenia third high voltage transmission line. Issues relating to the construction of the high voltage transmission line were discussed.
