On October 12, the regular 17th session of the Commission of CIS member states on the peaceful uses of atomic energy was held in Yerevan.
The session was attended by the representatives of Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan.
Welcoming the participants the RA Minister of the Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Ashot Manukyan highlighted the Commission's role in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy.
According to the Minister, this was a good opportunity for the information and experience exchange and for the personnel qualification improvement in the field of atomic energy and nuclear medicine.
During the 17th regular session of the Commission, according to the agenda, there were discussed a number of important directions of cooperation of the CIS member states in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy. In particular, was discussed the implementation process of the <Framework> Program and the <Reprocessing of the Mining Areas Affected by Uranium> Interstate Target Program untill 2020. The reports on the implementation of the decisions made during the previous session and the activities of the working group of Radiation therapy and nuclear medicine were also introduced.
The Commission referred to the issues of the new specialists' training and the organization of professional development in the sphere of nuclear energy, including the possibility of continuing education in the best universities of CIS as well.
By the results of the meeting, a Protocol was signed. The next session of the Commission of the CIS member states on the peaceful uses of atomic energy is planned to be held in Tajikistan.
