On the initiative of Communities’ Association of Armenia and Energy Savings Assistance Fund, in the framework of the first conference of the energy efficient communities, the presentation and reception of the "Covenant of Mayors East II» program and the Alliance of the energy efficient cities of Armenia was held today.
It is intended the development of the capacity of cities under Covenant, the obtaining of finance and loan funds for the implementation of the Sustainable Energy Action Plans, including the new cities by the Project implementing in the Eastern Partner Countries of EU Neighbourhood program, being developed by the cities and approved by the European Commission.
Highlighting the "Covenant of Mayors East II» program, the RA Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Hayk Harutyunyan said, that the necessary legislative field for the development of renewable energy is existing. Considerable works had been done in this area during the last years.
Note, that the Alliance of energy-efficient cities of Armenia was established on 26 February, 2016, at the meeting of the Council of the Union of Communities of Armenia.
The main aim of the creation of the Alliance is to combine the efforts around the energy efficiency, energy use and other problems within the local governments competencies.
