In the South of the Republic has Started the Construction of the Power Transmission Air Lines

The construction of the new power supply infrastructure of High Voltage Electrical Networks has already begun in the south of Armenia, in the Sisyan region.

Under this program funded by the World Bank, will be reconstructed  the "Noradus" “Lichk “, "Vardenis’’ and "Vorotan -1” power transmission air lines with 220 kV capacity and 225.5 km length connecting the "Hrazdan TPP" with Shinuhayr substation and  725 pillars.

The program implemented by the loan provided by the World Bank, with the annual interest rate of 1.85% and 25 years maturity period, of which 10 years preferential.

The main contractor of works is the Indian "Kalpataru Power Transmission” Company / Treaty amount 27.5 million. US Dollars /, the date of treaty completion is scheduled for March 2016.

The "Noradus" “Lichk “, "Vardenis’’ and "Vorotan -1” power transmission air lines are the key links in the chain.

They join the main electricity generating centers - "Hrazdan TPP” with the “Worotan HPP Cascade”, and at the same time, provides electricity to consumers of the central-eastern regions.

This power transmission air lines are exploited since 1958 and they have already a need for reconstruction, as the metals of pillars and concrete foundations were decayed.

Besides, there are residential houses and other structures in the security zone of the air lines, which is a violation of the dimensions of Technical Regulation, told the Director of the “High Voltage Electric Networks” CJSC Aram Ananyan in the construction site.

According to him, in the result of the implementing of the project will increase the reliability of power supply of consumers feeding from the "Kamo", “Lichk”, "Eghegnadzor”, 220 kV substations, will increase the stability of energy system, will grow the capacity and reliability of power transmission lines during the parallel work with the Iranian system.

In addition, significantly will decrease the electricity losses in listed lines.

- As of today, there were obtained 231 pieces of land, of which 190 of the community and 41 of state and private ownership.

There were made 152 land disconnections for community and public lands.

It have been concluded the appropriate agreements with the subcontractors.

There was made installation of grounds of 9 pillars, as well as, were produced 43 grounds of pillars by the factory producing methods, has said Aram Ananyan.

-It will be built 2 pillars every day to finish the program in time, so the Indian constructors have no time to delay.

According to the representative of the Indian "Kalpataru Power Transmission” company Dhaval Soule, their company has an extensive experience in  mounting work of the power transmission lines, and is considered to be  one of the best in this sphere.

The transmission lines building works are carried out by the company with 50 years of work experience in more than 25 countries.

They are working in Armenia for the first time, but as Dhaval Soule said, they have gained working experience in the high mountain areas of Uruguay, so they do not faced with particularly great difficulties in the mountains of Armenia.

- Another group of Indian builders will arrive to Sisyan in March.

Overall in the construction will take part about 300 Indians.

Although the difficulties of the climatic conditions, we will do our best for the completion of project in predetermined time, has said Dhaval Soule.

As informed the "High-Voltage Electrical Networks" Company's Director Aram Ananyan, in the framework of the "Electricity Supply Safety" program will be reconstructed two important substations of the energy system Shinuhayr and Hrazdan, which are unable to carry out their functions fully because of the wear and tear and decay.

-The Shinuhayr substation serves the entire region: From here the power supply continues to Meghri, from where it comes to Iran. That is, the substation fulfills a very important function and its reconstruction and modernization is urgent.

By the reconstruction project the substation will be reinforced and the equipments will be renovated and automated, in compliance with modern standards.

As a result, we will have a substation with a capacity of 400 kV, like of which there is no in Armenia yet, has said Aram Ananyan.
