On February 9, the RA Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan has a meeting with the representatives of the International Monetary Fund Mark Horton, Francisco Parod and Teresa Sanchez.
During the meeting, the Minister has introduced the Armenia's energy sector strategy, particularly the action plan schedule of 2014-2020, ensuring the conditions of the energy security concept.
The Minister has also informed, that Armenia is finishing the accession process to the '' Energy Efficiency of Eastern Europe and Environment Fund'', which will enable to impliment important projects in the field of energy efficiency.
Yervand Zakharyan has also informed the participants, that on February 5, in Moscow, was signed an agreement on allocating the export loan to Armenia's government for the financing of nuclear power station's operation term prolonging works in the territory of RA, under which the Russian side will provide a preferential loan of 270 million US dollars and 30 million of US dollars as a grant: these funds will be used for the plant's operating unit extension.
Yervand Zakharyan has also noted, that the new nuclear power plant's construction project is an important aspect for Armenia's energy system.
It is planned to start that works in 2018, so that the new power plant will be put into operation in 2027.
