On December 23, in Yerevan was held the sixth session of the Armenian-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission of the Economic Cooperation.
The members of the Commission, as well as the officials of the Ministries and the state agencies of two countries have participated in the session.
The session of the Armenian-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission was opened by the co-chairman of the Armenian side of the Intergovernmental Commission, RA Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan and by the co-chairman of the Turkmen side, the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Sapardurdi Toyliev.
The Minister Yervand Zakharyan has greeted the counterparts, who were hosted in Yerevan and noted, that the Armenia-Turkmenistan relations are based on the good traditions: friendship, cooperation and the mutual respect.
The Armenian-Turkmenistan diplomatic relations have been based still in 1992. Today Armenian-Turkmen cooperation has significant results already.
-The high dynamism of the international political dialog impresses on the deepening of the Armenian-Turkmen economic relations,-said Yervand Zakharyan.
-The personal relationship of the leaders of two countries impresses on the deepening of the bilateral cooperation in the trade-economic, scientific, technical, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres and the implementation of agreements achieved during the high level negotiations.
The Minister has noted, that during the RA President Serge Sargsyan’s official visit to Turkmenistan in April, there was been highlighted once again the importance of the role of Armenian-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission to activate the two countries cooperation in the prospective spheres, as well as for the development of the trade-economic relations.
-I am confident, that the productive work of the Intergovernmental Commission is a unique motive for the implementation of the projects and agreements. The experience shows, that we can achieve significant results in term of joint work,- said Yervand Zakharyan.
The Minister has noted, that the total turnover between two countries is about 12.5 million dollars, but there is a great opportunity to increase it, and the Yerevan is ready to continue the work in this direction.
The co-chairman of the Turkmen side of the Armenian-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission, the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Sapardurdi Toyliev for his part has appreciated highly the Armenian-Turkmen relations and expressed confidence, that in the near future the economic cooperation will develop by a new temp, due to the joint efforts of the governments of two countries.
-The Armenia is a potential partner in the economic sphere for us, and we wish to strengthen the relations in all spheres of the economy,- said Sapardurdi Toyliev.
-We are also highlighting the necessity of the turnover volumes increasing, the potential of which is truly existing.
On the agenda of the sixth session of the Armenian-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission were been included issues regarding to the various spheres of two countries’ economies.
There was underlined the importance of the issues related to the organization of direct flights from Yerevan to Ashgabad.
During the session there were been discussed the issues regarding to the Armenian-Turkmen trade-economic cooperation, the legal field development, as well as the cooperation issues in standardization and state control, fuel and energy, transport and communication, health, agriculture, education and science, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
At the end of the session there was been signed the protocol of the sixth session of the Intergovernmental Commission of the Economic Cooperation between Armenia and Turkmenistan.
The sides have agreed to hold the 7th session of the Commission in Ashgabad, in 2015.
