Commemorative Medals to the Proficient Mining Professionals

On December 19, the RA Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources hosted the directors of mining enterprises and proficient mining professionals.

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan awarded the employees of mining sphere of the country with commemorative medals for long-term exemplary and impeccable work.

The distinguished geologist of RA Sabir Stepanyan, the Professor of the State Engineering University of Armenia Yuri Aghabalyan, and the electrician of "Teghout" CJSC enrichment plant Gagik Melikyan were awarded by the medals of RA Minister of Energy and Natural Resources " For the Significant Contribution in the Field of Earth Resources”.

Yervand Zakharyan thanked them, as well as all representatives of the mining sphere for hard and responsible work.

The Minister mentioned, that the mining industry having decades-long tradition, has important implications for the development of Armenia's economy.

Summing up the recent year, Yervand Zakharyan has enlisted, that despite some backsliding is registered in the mining sector during the 2014 compared to 2013, nevertheless the mining companies continue to be in the top of the spreadsheet of the largest taxpayers.

The Minister also pointed out, that the capabilities of the sector have not been fully utilized last year.

-Our joint efforts should be aimed at the efficient management and operation of the mining sector, said Yervand Zakharyan. We have a responsibility to future generations, therefore, we have no right to exploit the crust unsparingly.

Yervand Zakharyan congratulated everyone on the occasion of New Year and Christmas, wished them good health and productive year.
