On December 16, in Tehran, by the end of the 12th session of the Armenian - Iranian Intergovernmental Committee, have been signed a series of important documents which will promote the Iranian- Armenian economic cooperation.
During the two consecutive days, the five working groups have discussed the issues of mutual interest of the economic sphere, which have been summed up in the "Memorandum of Understanding of the 12th Session of the Armenian-Iranian Intergovernmental Committee".
The co-chairman of the Armenian - Iranian Intergovernmental Committee, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan has estimated the 12th Session’s works quite effective.
-Two important documents have been signed: "The Memorandum of Understanding of the 12th Session of Armenian-Iranian Intergovernmental Committee", as well as, "The Memorandum of Meghri HPP Construction".
-All these documents are of great importance for the economies of Armenia and Iran, said Yervand Zakharyan summing up the results at the end of the session. All branches of the economy are included in the Memorandum: energy, trade, banking sector, environment, health, education, culture and so on.
Within the frame of the Armenian-Iranian energy programs the Minister pointed out the construction project of the 3rd high-voltage line, which will enable the Iran-Armenia power bandwidth up from 350 MW to 1200 MW.
-We agreed with the Iranian side to start the construction in 2015, March, and to complete it during the 18 months. The construction of line will enable to reach the electricity delivery from Armenia to Iran to 7 billion kw/h, instead of the current 1 billion 200 million kw/h said Yervand Zakharyan.
The next document signed refers to the construction of Meghri HPP.
According to the agreement, the preparatory works of the construction should be completed in October 2015, after which it will begin the construction of Meghri HPP, which will last for 5 years.
During the 12th session of the Armenian-Iranian Intergovernmental Committee, the Armenia's seven Deputy Ministers and other members of the delegation, with Iranian counterparts discussed and reached arrangements on expanding the cooperation in different fields.
They also discussed the Aras river’s pollution problem, and the sides have agreed to exclude these cases due to the consistent work.
In particular, the commercial chambers of two countries agreed to organize economic, commercial and investment conferences in Tehran and Yerevan in one year term.
Sides have agreed to create appropriate conditions for art exhibitions, music, theater performances, as well as for presenting of the programs of individual performers of two counties, with the aim of celebrating of <The Iran-Armenia Friendship Days>.
Besides, an agreement has been reached in direction of shooting films in the territory the two countries of the general cultural values. The Iranian side has expressed readiness to provide the citizens of Armenia 3 scholarship places for 2015-2016 academic year.
In the frame of the 12th session of Armenian - Iranian Intergovernmental Committee, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan had meetings with Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian and Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh.
The Ministers discussed the Armenian-Iranian energy cooperation issues and forthcoming activities.
