The Republic of Armenia and the European Union Continue Their Cooperation
On March 21st in Yerevan took place the third session of Armenia-EU PCA Sub-Committee “Energy, Nuclear Safety, Transport and Environment”.
The co-chairmen were Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of RA Mr. Areg Galstyan and EEAS, Head of EaP Bilateral Division of EU Mr. John Kjaer.
Representatives of the related Armenian ministries and agencies as well as the representatives of EU delegation in Armenia participated in the event, during which a lot of numerous issues of mutual interest was discussed.
The Armenian side presents the issues concerning energy strategy and policy, the latest developments in energy sector, including gas, electricity and oil, energy safety and infrastructures, energy efficiency and renewable energy, nuclear safety.
The information was provided on regional cooperation between the neighbouring countries, countries of Trans Caucasus region and EU, as well as implementation of the INOGATE program, on the latest developments in RA and EU in the sphere of transport and aviation and regional cooperation.
Also discussions were held on enviorement and climate change, information was provided on the latest developments in the envioremental sphere, water and air quality in Armenia, waste management.
At the end of the event the co-chairmen introduced the wrap-up speeches.
Subcommittee co-chairman, Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of RA Mr. Galstyan highlighted the importance of cooperation with the EU and confirmed that Armenia will continue its active role in the sphere of energy, nuclear safety, transport and environment for further development of cooperation. He noted that the subcommittee provides very good platform for experts from Armenia and EU for strengthening communication and dialogue in mutually interrelated spheres.
The head of EaP Bilateral Division of EU John Kjaer express his gratitude to Armenian side and announced that this event promoted the development of productive cooperation between Armenia and EU.
