On March 28, the sixth session of the Armenian-Russian coordination committee took place within the framework of the program of extension of the second unit of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), headed by Deputy minister of Energy infrastructures and natural resources Karen Ghahramanyan and deputy director general of Rosatom, state corporation Development and International Business Director Kirill Komarov.
During meeting was discussed at the session in 2017 the results of the work done and the plans for the coming years equipment replacement, the volume and schedule of modernization works.
The parties emphasized the efficiency of the modernization of the machine salon, in particular, it was noted that turbines, turbogenerators, block transformers and condenser modules were already supplied to the station. The cranes for the machine salon have been upgraded and a plan-preventive repair program has been prepared, which will commence in June 2018. It was noted that on April 14 the turbocharger No. 4 will be replaced, the condenser and the separator-steam generator will be replaced. Starting from June 1, the reactor will be stop, the turbine N3, the high pressure cylinder, the low pressure cylinder rotor and the separator-steam boosters, as well as the turbine generators and the main transformer N3 will be repaired. It is scheduled for 2018 completion of the cooling tower N1 modernizatio. They also touched upon the training of ANPP staff and specialists involved. It is expected that in 2018, about 600 employees of contracting companies will work in June-July at ANPP.
Issues related to humanitarian cooperation and training of Armenian nuclear energy specialists were discussed. In that context it was mentioned that in 2018, In March, applicants from Armenia were admitted to Moscow Engineering and Physical Institute, as well as educational events are organized regularly with the participation of Russian specialists in the Armenian National Polytechnic University.
At the end of the session, a protocol was signed following the discussion.
