Preparatory works of the next phase of the program for the modernization and exploitation term prolongation of the second block of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant were discussed

A consultation on preparatory works for the planned preventive repair of the next phase of the program for the modernization and exploitation term prolongation of the second block of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant took place at the RA Ministry of Energy infrastructures and Natural Resources, which headed by RA Minister of Energy infrastructures and Natural Resources Ashot Manukyan.

Gagik Martirosyan, Chief Advisor to the RA Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committee Ashot Martirosyan and Head of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant and the engineering staff took part in the consultation.

The work on raising the level of security of the Armenian NPP operating block has been discussed, as well as the process of implementation of measures envisaged by the program of extension and modernization of the company. In particular, they discussed the construction and installation works of the turbine and reactor workshops possible risks of completion at defined timeframe. Including the process of large supplies of necessary equipment and materials. During the consultation, a number of organizational issues were also touched upon, in which relevant recommendations were given.

It should be noted that the 6th sitting of the Armenian-Russian coordinating commission on extension of the project of the second block of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) will be held in Metsamor on March 28. The meeting will discuss the activities envisaged by the project's extension of the second unit of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, as well as in 2018 April 14  Planned preventive maintenance works starting.
