RA Minister of Energy infrastructures and Natural Resources Ashot Manukyan received on October 16 a delegation led by USAID Mission Director in Armenia Office Deborah Grieser.
Welcoming the guests, the Minister congratulated Mrs. Deborah Grieser on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of USAID's activities in Armenia, expressing hope that the cooperation will continue successfully.
Highly appreciating the role of the structure in the development of different spheres of economy, Ashot Manukyan presented to the guests the process of the two programs implemented by the US Agency for International Development (USAID): digitalization of the Armenian Geological Fund archives and process of the preparation of electric energy free market brokers. It was noted that they proceed according to the schedule and without obstacles.
The meeting participants also touched upon a number of other energy projects. The parties discussed issues related to extension of the operation of the second unit of the ANPP, as well as the implementation of the SCADA system for construction of the Armenia-Georgia high-voltage line.
The minister informed the guests that the extension of the term of operation of the second block of the ANPP is underway. In that case, a decision will be made on the new nuclear power block. Touching upon the Armenia-Georgia high-voltage line construction project, Ashot Manukyan emphasized that it is a priority for Armenia and will definitely be implemented.
"Construction will create conditions for the formation of the Iran-Armenia-Georgia-Russia regional corridor," the Minister emphasized.
During the meeting the interlocutors also touched upon other issues.
