The construction works of the gas distribution network in Meghri and Agarak communities bordering with Iran have been completed. The entire town of Meghri and a part of the town Agarak are now equipped with gas supply. At this stage the process of receiving operational license for gas distribution network and connecting to the consumer's network is on.
As a reminder - back in 2011 the governments of Iran and Armenia signed a memorandum on providing assistance to Armenia. Within the Memorandum Iran agreed to provide 2 million USD as a grant for construction of gas distribution network of the bordering Meghri and Agarak communities. The Armenian side assumed taxes and custom duty expenditures of product supply and services and other mandatory payments. The implementation of the project was stopped as Iran suspended financing. The project was resumed at the end of the last year.
