The Construction of Meghri and Agarak Gas Distribution Network will be Launched Soon

The gas distribution network's construction activities in Meghri and Agarak communities near the Iranian border will be resumed soon. The main contractor of the project, managing Director of the Iranian "Sanergy" company H. Zamani said about it yesterday during the reception held at the RA Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Ye. Zakharyan.

During the meeting they discussed a number of issues related to gasification of the communities. The head of "Sanergy" company informed the Minister, that it is continuing the relocation of necessary equipments and materials. The construction works will start in the first decade of December.

Highlighting the social importance of the implementation of the project, Ye. Zakharyan noted, that it is necessary to speed up the gasification process and to implement it within the period and in high quality.

Note, that the Governments of Iran and Armenia still in December, 2011, had been signed a Memorandum of Understanding, regarding the providing of the assistance to Armenia.

Within the framework of the Memorandum, the Iranian Government had agreed to provide 2 million US dollars as a grant for the implementation of the gas distribution network's construction project in the settlements (Meghri and Agarak communities) near the Iranian border.

The Armenian side has assumed the expenses connected with the taxes, customs duties and other binding fees, charging for the deals of goods delivery and provision of services, at the expense of the allocated funds.

The implementation of the project was been interrupted because of the suspension of funding by the Iranian side.
