Armenia's experience in renewable energy development is instructive

RA Minister of Energy infrastructures and Natural Resources Ashot Manukyan, speaking at the session of the CIS Electric Power Council on November 4 in Tashkend, presented the main directions of Armenia's energy development. Minister touched upon problems of atomic energy development, diversification of primary energy resources and increase of efficiency of gas heating systems production in our country. In his speech, Ashot Manukyan also talked about the steps to be taken to increase the share of the electricity generated from own renewable sources in the domestic consumption structure.

Introducing the roadmap for renewable energy development in the CIS countries, Georgy Yermolenko, Head of the Renewable Energy Development Center of the Russian Higher School of Economics emphasized that Armenia's experience in renewable energy development and energy efficiency is instructive. The meeting discussed more than sixty other issues related to the safety of the operation of the electro-gas station, the reliability of the equipment, the environmental impact reduction, as well as sectoral issues.

Personnel issues were also touched upon. Igor Kuzco was elected as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the CIS Electric Power Council. Energy Ministers of Uzbekistan, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Minister of Energy, Industry and Natural Resources of Saudi Arabia, Deputy Energy Ministers of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan took part in the meeting.

Within the framework of the forum, Ashot Manukyan had meetings with Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak, Belarusian Energy Minister Vladimir Popupchik, Kazakh Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev.
